John 1:12
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
You are a child of God. Let this truth sink in for a moment. If you have received Jesus into your heart, and if you have believed in the Name of Jesus, He has given you the right to be a child of God. It is your right. You cannot earn it. The truth is this: You are a child of God.
The word “right” is the Greek word, exousia. It means permission, physical and mental power, the power of authority, and the sign of regal authority, a crown.
Think about this for a moment. If you have received Jesus and believed that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9), Jesus has given you the right, the permission, the physical and mental power, the authority, and a crown to wear as a child of God! He has infused you with power and authority to stand before the Throne of Grace with confidence and authority, wearing your crown, and say confidently, “I am a child of God! I am your child, Lord! Father, Daddy, I am your son/daughter.”
And Jesus looks at His Father and says, “Father, this is your child. Because of what I did, by dying on the cross and being raised to life at Your Right Hand, Father, I have given him/her the right to be your child.”
Jesus looks at you with the most loving, compassionate eyes and beckons you to come near to Daddy.
Will you? Will you speak this truth over yourself? Close your eyes and picture the scene I described above. God does not care what your past is; He only cares about you. He loves you. He desires you. He has called you child.
This is your right. It has been given to you by Jesus. And nobody can take it away from you. Nobody. You are a child of God!
