I’ve been on a journey to search out the true meaning of life for quite some time now. And I’ve found the answer.
When you know the “why” to life, the rest of the pieces of life really do fall into place. Our “why” is our identity. Yes, there have been countless books written on identity, but none really go to the deepest part of our soul. I’ve discovered the secret to unlocking and discovering your true identity.
And once you understand your true identity, purpose naturally follows.
The funny thing about it is that it’s not really a secret. It’s an invitation. And it’s open to anyone willing to take the journey of a lifetime.
And this is why I created Identity-Driven Purpose. Without knowing your identity, you will not know your purpose. But once you find your identity, you will know your purpose.
I hope you join me on this journey. It can be a difficult road to head down on your own. But I’m here to help.
What is identity, anyway?
Here are a few definitions:
● the fact of being who or what a person or thing is
● the distinguishing character or personality of an individual: individuality
The problem with these vague definitions of identity is the fact that they’re, well, vague! When it comes to identity, you can’t be vague, and you can’t be tossed back and forth based on what others say about you. If you are, you’ll identify with the latest trend, your feelings, your peers, or perhaps something much more deceiving. Every person was created as a unique individual, and understanding that uniqueness is part of the discovery process.
However, not only is your identity unique to just you, there are aspects of it that are shared by all of humanity. For example, everyone needs relationships. That’s part of our identity. If you isolate yourself, for example, you will quickly find out that you are seeking your identity in all the wrong places.
So not only do you have a unique identity (think fingerprints), you also have an element of your identity that is shared with others.
Simple, right? Just hang with me and we’ll get to the bottom of everything.
Here’s my definition of identity:
Your unique design and makeup that is meant to be shared with those around you.
You were designed by Someone. Your makeup, your DNA, the very essence of who you are, is perfect. And all this package, all of who you are, is meant to be shared with those you come in contact with.
Also, your identity cannot change. Your true identity cannot change. The challenge that we are seeing today is that people are choosing their identity. Your identity can’t be chosen. It’s not fluid. Yes, it can be influenced, but at the end of the day, your identity is ingrained so deep into your heart and soul, that once it’s fully discovered and allowed to flourish, peace, joy, purpose, and meaning in life simply pour out from this place.
The challenge with this topic is that people tend to think that if they change, then their identity changes. That’s not true. Yes, people change. People are influenced. But deep inside your heart and your soul is a seed that has been waiting to be watered and nourished so it can grow and flourish. My goal is to help you find the DNA of that seed, water it, nourish it, until the real you comes alive!
